A DAY OF TIBETAN CEREMONY
FOR PROTECTION, HEALING, AND REMOVING OF OBSTACLES

With Adam Kane
Two offerings of this event are scheduled:
First Offering: Saturday, 10/14/23 from 12pm to 6pm. This Date is Full
Second Offering: Saturday, 10/21/23 from 12pm to 6pm. This Date is Full
I welcome you to join me in a day of ceremonial offerings from the Tibetan Bön tradition that offer healing, grant protection, and remove the obstacles that stand in the way of our joy (especially those of fear, worry, and doubt). This day is orchestrated to offer three important ceremonies from the Bön tradition for fortification and preparation as we move into months of shorter amounts of daylight and colder weather where we are more prone to seasonal depression, sickness, lack of vitality, and upticks in Flu and Covid cases. It will be a day filled with meditations, mantras, and traditional Tibetan ceremony.
This is primarily a day of experiential ceremony with only enough teaching to provide understanding for the participation in these ceremonies.

What Ceremonies are Being Offered:
Sidpa Gyalmo Protection Ceremony- The deity, Sidpa Gyalmo, is the chief protector of the Bon tradition. She is the fierce manifestation of The Great Loving Mother. This ceremony invokes Sidpa Gyalmo as we generate her power within us for protection from all harmful forces (both external and internal forces). A prayer flag for your home, a protection talisman for traveling (or for your vehicle), and a red string talisman will all be blessed during this ceremony for each participant. This ceremony and the prayer flag created are particularly effective for protection from epidemics (such as the Flu and Covid).
Healing Waters of Yeshe Walmo- The deity, Yeshe Walmo, is the healing manifestation of The Great Loving Mother. This ceremony invokes Yeshe Walmo to bless a vase of healing waters that are then administered to the participants to receive the blessings of healing for physical and non-physical ailments.
Du Dok (Averting Misfortune and Obstacles)- Through this practice, we clear the causes of misfortune and obstacles to our five divine energies: the Tsog (life force), Lu (health), Wangtang (livelihood), Lungta (social wellbeing), and Lha (soul). A “spirit ransom” is also offered in this ceremony to feed/appease any harmful forces or spirits that may be lingering around participants so that they can be released from these harmful influences.

What is Bön:
Bön is the indigenous religion of Tibet with its roots in shamanism and animism. It is believed that the Bön tradition originated in the ancient civilization of Zhang Zhung 18,000 years ago. Today there is a large amount of Buddhism infused into Bön but its shamanistic origins are still very strong. The passing down of the Bön lineage is done in a way to preserve its integrity and power.
