Grief Ceremony-
Navigating Grief as a path towards love and healing
With Adam Kane
Date: Saturday, 3/16/24 Time: 12pm to 6pm Grief is a powerful human experience that permanently shapes us as individuals. Our modern culture often lacks the capacity to guide individuals and communities through times of grief, and many people get stuck within it as a result. When grief is stuck it forms a blockage that is painful. However, when grief moves it becomes a path that leads us to it's very essence- which is love. We only experience grief for the things that we love. |
In this day long ceremony we will support one another to purge and release the hardened blockages of grief that cause pain and sadness and we will engage in the process of weaving together the human experiences of Joy and Sorrow to create a pathway back to Love.
What Ceremonies are Being Offered:
Ancestral Ceremony- This is the "stick and stone" practice from West African traditions to call forth to our ancestral teachers and guides. We honor them and petition them for their guidance as they are spirit beings who know what it is to be human and how to navigate and purify grief as a precious teacher of life and love.
Purging Ceremony with Tobacco Traps- This South American ceremony is done through medicine song, ceremonial breathwork, and the use of small bundles of cloth filled with tobacco to purge our dense emotions, poisonous thoughts, and harmful energies into and then releasing and transforming them through fire.
Cultivating the "Space" Element- From the Tibetan Bön tradition of working with the five elements of Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and Space. For this stage of the ceremony we will be cultivating and accumulating the Space Element to better equip our hearts for the expansive energy of possibility. The possibility of weaving together all of the sorrows and joys that are associated with our grief to create a new tapestry of rich human experience rooted in love.
Pachakuti Mesa Ceremony- The Pachakuti Mesa tradition is a Peruvian tradition of working with a ceremonial altar as a microcosm which is a mirror to the macrocosm of the universe. when change is created upon the alter it effects change in the outside world and within ourselves. In this ceremony we will be working with the Pachakuti Mesa to take the emotions and thoughts associated with our grief, bringing them into union with the divine love of the creator/universe, and then anchoring this purified version of our grief into our heart as a human experience rooted in love.
